Ok im sorry if this is already posted. I did search and came up empty handed.

Ok well after I record all my vocals, I open Adobe Audition find out where the vocals start and then right click and press "mix paste" sometimes I make it louder. But when I put it in I notice it starts off good, on beat. But then the vocals and music starts to get off beat and the longer I let it go the long the gap becomes. haha

I sing the vocals right on beat when recording but when I mix its off.

Im I not mixing it right?

Thanks

hi, could be due to a couple of reasons....but....let's get this out of the way first...
Give us the specs of your system.

('we' will also ask you shortly on the settings you have currently in your Adobe/CEP program,ie. buffers etc.)....I'll just call it CEP from now on.

just to note that I too had 'sync' problems when I first started using CEP many years ago, (Pentium 2 mmx, 128meg SD Ram....)

Once I upgraded memory, hard drive and processor speeds, things just became seemless and intrinsically good....

so, there you go kokomo....back to you.:)

Ok well my computer is a Dell Dimen 3k, 520 ram, factory internal harndrive 150Gb, 500Gb external.

CEP program,ie. buffers

Thats like a different language to me. haha

Could it be getting slower when I convert the aud. file to wav. ?

ok...specs sound reasonable....

Now tell me that your ext. Hard-Drive is not connected via USB?

Where does your program sit?...on C drive, with your music files being saved to the ext drive?

All your files should be 'wave' files anyway.

What frequency are you recording at?..ie 44.1k @32 bit (24), 48K @ 16 bit..etc......???

Can you go into your settings and screen print those, just so we can all see them?

Just trying to see what the issue is here!!

Yes my External is connected by usb should I turn it off when doing this? I have ubs 1.1

I save the files on my desktop, just to make it easyer to get to.

Yes Audition sits in my C: and music on desktop.

Its says 44.1k @ 16bit Stereo

Thanks

ok.....so u save all your files to your C drive, that's ok, just might get a little messy. (Idealy, this software likes a seperate drive to the installation drive,(not a USB 1.1 drive!), but your current configuration should be ok.
But the main thing is that your not trying to write to that USB (1.1!!) drive while recording....it is just too darn slow for multi-tracking stuff!
Your current recording frequency/depth should not be 'loading' or slowing things down, and should be fine.
Next thing is to look at your 'settings' within CEP, and we'll just fine tune it a bit.
Is there any way for you to convey to us the settings..ie screen shots, cut and pasted into a word doc...anything?

What sort of sound cards are you currently using again?

cheers,
Spit.

Oh ok I think thats the problem, My Zoom recorder has a SM card that after I record I have a usb card reader but its pluged into my 1.1

So I need to upgrade to 2.0

Whats CEP? haha

Thanks

Ok well I got USB 2.0 and I have the same problem. I dont understand whats wrong? do I need to compress it or something? haha idk

Thanks,
Taka

It's called drift. I had the same thing when recording with a SoundBlaster at 44.1K. The card is locked in at 48KHz. If you record lower or higher, it just resamples on-the-fly which can cause drift.

In Adobe Audition's settings there are 2 options in the Multi-Track settings for correcting drift and start drift. Make sure they are both enabled.

What USB interface do you have now? This shouldn't happen with any decent, modern recording interface, unless it is also locked in on one sample rate.

Edit: Just read that you are using USB 1.1. I don't know of the exact speed but that could definitely be an issue.

Oh ok I think I understand, but I cant find the "Multi-Track" settings in my audition. So you need to recored at 48KHz to not get drift? how do I do that?

Im not using a recorder that can plug into my computer (threw USB) if thats what your asking. I have a recorder and USB memory card reader.

I have USB 1.1 but I also have another that I tested it on with 2.0

Taka I think it'll be you USB hard drive that is casuing the delay in recording, either that or your sound card. If it's your sound card try updating you drivers. I'm still yet to fix a slight millisecond delay on mine, it gets slower with each track I record on the mix and it get very irritating.
