Vocal Output Sounds different from Headphone then Speakers??

Me and my buddy was recording last night and we noticed that the vocal output sounded much much better on the headphones then the speakers when we playback. Does it happen to you guys?? Is that normal?? Could it be that my headphone quality is much better then my speaker??? Could it also be that I am saving it wrong losing quality?? I usually save by going to save mixdown and then save it as .mp3. Forgot to mention that I'm using Adobe Audition.

When you're setting up and getting the mic level, are you listening though headphones or speakers?

Because you're setting level, eq, etc to the headphones! If you want it to sound good through speakers, you must listen through speakers.

Things sound different on Speakers than on Headphones because with speakers the Sound is Reflected off of the Room that the Speakers are in were with Headphones the Sound isn"t affected by the Room.....

Mixing should be Done with Monitors Not Headphones or Speakers as Speakers and Headphones don"t give you a True representation of how the sound Truely sounds......

If you want the Best quality Mixes you should really get a proper set of Studio Monitors that way the Mixed Music will sound Good on every System it is Played on and not just on your system....

Yeah check what you're tracking on speakers, get it right on there then put headphones on to record.


So Minion whats with capatalizing every third or fourth word, it kinda makes it hard to read sometimes, it's a bit distracting.

Ah Got Ya!!!...makes sense......I should probably invest in a monitor.....at first I didn't realize that there are a big difference in monitor vs speakers because a monitor looks exactly like a speaker. I guess now I know hehe....monitors are quick expensive...which is good and affordable would u guys say?? I'm doing mostly instrumental track recording with my vocal.....so i probably won't need those heavy big super nices ones.

Oh what the hell, splurge and buy two..... things sound so much better in stereo!

What you want, given that your monitoring environment probably isn't treated, is nearfield monitors. Good news is, they are the smaller cheapish ones.
