I have a Behr MX802a mixer and an Echo Mia soundcard with an SM 58 right now... I need a really good microphone under 400$ and a pair of monitors under 500$.... Any suggestions??? I record rappers and gospel singers.... Let me know what ya'll think, thanks!!!!!!!!

Nady makes a great vocal mic for under $100 bucks. here's some songs that i recorded that i used the mic (scm900) on: www.nowhereradio.com/zeke/singles

And you could look at the Studio Projects C1 for $199

For monitors, look at www.musiciansfriend.com Most monitors made by alesis, makie, fostex, rca and others will be good. Just make sure that the monitors that you choose are powered (or just buy at amp if there not and make sure that the monitors can handle the watts that the amp puts out) and most of all: make sure that they are flat responce and have a good freq.

while i was at it, Id upgrade my preamp too....

Id look into getting a Marshall MXLv67, a VTB1, and a RNC compressor.......

KRK V4's are excellent and I think Guitar Center is having a sale on them.
Eventually you'd want a subwoofer on any monitors you get though.
The VTB-1 is the best choice under $200 for a mic pre.
Will probably drop in price to around $130 in 6 weeks or so.
The Studio Projects B3 would help you with group vocals as it's
multi-pattern and has the omni pattern included.
And you can use the cardiod pattern for solo singers.
