Vocal/Iso Booth Question

Rick,

The blanket/curtain I have basically just creates a little bit of absorption to kill room reflections along the back lobe of the vocal mic. I point the mic away from the blanket so that it basically just picks up the sound within the draped off area. What I hope to do with the panels is provide a little bit more attenuation of household noise that the blanket just can't do.

As far as the "doorway" goes, with the current setup the blanket is hung from a board that spans the width of the space and can be slid back and forth as needed. For the panel setup I haven't quite figured out how to do a door if I do double walls. I've been toying around with the idea of a pocket door, but then that creates a weak link, so I'm not sure still. Whatever I do it will have to be cheap since my wife has put a moratorium on my studio spending. The panels I'm envisioning I think can be constructed for $10-15 apiece, so I could do them piece-meal until they are all complete (I figure 16 panels to do a "double wall" configuration).

Darryl.....
