First off, thank you to anyone and everyone who answers and helps me.

ok, I'm working with a mbox 2 mini with a AKG Perception 220 mic with a pop filter and use Pro Tools LE 8.3. My vocals come in clearish but i think bass is a problem. I'm working with a somewhat deep voice and the recordings come out a bit grainy and a little too full. I was wondering if its a mic problem, setup problem (as in the recording booth problem) or if there are some settings I am missing? I'm really really newbish lol so I pretty much record and then try to mess with the EQs and whatever I can find to fix the problem as much as I can. I will try to post a sample soon to help my case. Thanx again.

Experimenting with mic position can frequently help. Directional mics usually have 'proximity effect', which is a buildup of low frequencies when the mic is close to the source. Back the mic off a bit and see what happens. Also low and low-mid EQ cuts can help as well.

Yes try putting the microphone up some level with your eyes. And I do believe that the perception has a bass roll off ---use it. also on the eq setting for that channel you can roll off at about 100 that should do the trick if not get back to us.
Now when you monitoring while your recording do you hear this or only during play back?
