I'm in the market for some good sounding effects, since i'm not really happy with the ones in my VS1880. I'm looking for something that hits guitars and vocals mostly. Any suggestions? Oh, budget....hmmm....I'm gonna go cheap and try to keep it under $500. What am I leaving out?

what effects are you looking for? just reverb and delay? compression? flanger, chorus, pitch shift? you just want an all in one box?

what's wrong with the effects in your vs1880? are they noisy? just sound bad? you sure the effects are the problem?

Yea, a little bit of everything. Especially for guitar. I want to go a step or two above the Roland effects in quality....(with real knobs! ). The Roland effects are O.K., but I'm sure I can do better. Want to expand my horizons................

Kurzweil Rumour or Mangler

the Rumour looks alright. Has the Digi Ins/outs, which is cool....well, maybe iti doesn't matter, since the signal has to go through converters either way. Is the Kurzweil something you would slap on vocals and be proud? I wonder if they have something like this at a store in my area I could try out.

Oh, BK, what's the main differences between the Rumour and Mangler?

Yes, I would not hesitate to use the Kurzweil on vocals, as I have many times. The Kurzweil effects system, KDFX is truly wonderful, imho.

Also, the convertors are an added bonus - they are truly excellent and the effects bypass allows you to use them as standalone convertors.

The main difference between the two is that the Rumour specializes in reverbs while the Mangler specializes in more ruder effects.
