Any tips for eqing vocals. When I compare my vocals to "pro" vocals (with a Spectrum Analyzer), The "pro" vocals always have more energy in 125-250 area but when I boost mine in that area they sound too muddy. Any tips?

the pro vox have mics and pres that cost 1000 dollars..that is my guess. ha.

how are you comparing your vocals? where are you getting pro vocals with no music accompanyment?

I've got 4 or 5 sections of songs which contain nothing but vocal.
IE. Godsmack, Nickleback etc.

while shackrock is undoubtably correct, the other thing to remember, joe, is that just boosting EQ to match a spectrum analysis will probably add as many problems as it solves - especially if you don't happen to have really world class EQ. One way around it would be to cut the frequencies except the ones you were previously boosting, and then raise the overall level of the track.

To add to the above.

Your also forgetting that the vocals are Equed according to the whole mix. If they arent standing out enough.... or how they complimate other tracks and many other factors.
One mic that fits your voice like a glove won't fit your friend, making the content different.

I wouldn't compare your voice to others. They have different energy and content then yours.
