Hey howz it goin fellaz..? new ta hear so hear me out... My quality as of now is ok, its decent but i have the equipment to turn out a much better product.. Ive heard my friend who is a producer turn out some really good stuff and my setup is better then his.. I have the following for equipment

3.06Ghz pentium 4
1.4Gb Ram
sound blaster live 2 platinum sound card
Rode NT1 condensor mic
XLR monster cable
Event TR5 studio monitors w/ 1/4 " jacks
Bherenger mixer w/phantom power support
and cool edit

Now im positive the mistake is coming from my lack of knowledge in the mixing area because a friend wit tha same setup n computer half as good as mines turns out an almost flawless project. Now I do hiphop music, like i said my quality now is decent but Im sure it could be alot better.. Ive tried to find a how to on mixing n thingz of that nature, but ta no avail have turned up empty handed.. If anyone could help id be most appreciated... Thank you...

ok now heres a sample of me rappin that i put together..

First, you've got the order wrong.

Rode NT1 condensor mic
Bherenger mixer w/phantom power support
sound blaster live 2 platinum sound card
Event TR5 studio monitors w/ 1/4 " jacks
. . .

There you go. Work on that, in that order.

I thought your shit sounded great...some of the better rap I've heard from an amatuer. The best way to get advice around here is ask a specific question. Find out which part of your mix you're not satisfied with, and ask the question.

thanks alot.. Well I just want the vocals too have a clearer cleaner crisp type of sound to them.. Ok so far how all I do after a I record vocals are,

listen for mistakes n be happy with beginning product

clean up vocals from all breaths n other noises

compress using a dynamic processor 4:1

then using a parametric equalizer with some settings I recieved from a friend

put a tight n close reverb on it

and thats it.. Now I listen to a good friends mix and his sounds alot more alive, clearer, cleaner, and overall more professional, just with vocals.. Mines sound good, but I wonder if how im compressing them is always the right way. Or how do I Eq them to my liking, i need a starting ground to achieve all these groundz and was wondering what help you can provide me with. Thanx

also I notice a bit of a hiss in my s's and c's, how do I correct these also.. thank you

here is the link to my page and you can listen to the top song...
