I've thinking of downsizing my studio. I have a mackie 32-8. Great board but, life style is changing and I need to save some room. I have noticed roland has droped the price on the vm7200. Has any one used this system. I've tried to find a place with one in stock so I could check one out in person with no luck. I have searched this site with little info available. My questions are, what are the pres like? Is there phatom power? Is it user friendly? I know roland makes quality stuff but they just gave it a big price droped and that either means it's junk or they are coming out with a replacement. thanks

vm-7200

I have gone to great lengths to get info on this unit and the best solution i've found was to purchase the 30.00 roland vm-7000 video manual from roland direct. It was very enlightning. This mixer is incredibly versatile and flexable. Yes there is phantom power which is automatble by the way. I think there was a huge price drop because no one seems to really know about the mixer and I think for sure roland is working on a new 24/96 version. At any rate what a value 24 moving faders,20analog inputs,Digital I/O etc... I found these two reviews in my search check them out for more info on what it can do.

http://www.digitalprosound.com/ sorry I don't have the exact link but you can do a search or it may be on the front page.

Thanks for the great info. I think I'm going to go for it. Hopefully when they come out with the 96 it will just be a software update.
Thanks again.

The 96k will likely be much more than a software upgrade.

I have the VM3100 which I believe is the same components. It's not bad but I doubt you will like the sound better than your mackie.

If you want the versatility aka complications of digital routing than you will like it. The effects are decent. The pre's are okay but a little noisy on dynamics.
