This will sound strange to who of you do have expensive sound modules and synths, but my question is:
assuming a Roland Sound Canvas module a good option, isn't the Virtual one a best option if you needed only to make a midi base (or importing aa Midi base from else where) and to transform it in a wav file (with the appropriate good sounds of the VSC) and loading it into your tracker to play with?
Of course the basis is: no need to make an expensive demo, but just to use on your own and to share with friends on the net, but with enough average/high quality.
Is it possible?
Is it possible to use VSC with a MIDI keyboard to input data?

I'm a guitarist and at the moment I have :
PC Pentium3 500Mhz/10Gb/256 RAM
Fender Strat Ultra guitar
Gibson J200 ac.guit
Tube works 100W amp
Alesis Sr16 el.drum
Zoom 9000 fx
many pedals, tube screamer,. wha cry baby, etc...

Soundcard to be upgraded soon (any suggestion?)

many thanks and sorry for my english (I'm from Italy)

I bought the VSC to listen to MIDI files at work- I've got the SC88 at home. It requires some CPU horsepower (it made this system stutter and hiccup at the start of each playback) and the sounds are "OK" but definitely not in the league of the real Canvas. I can compare this on this Celeron 433 system because I play the CDs made from the real sound canvas and the same MIDI files through the same soundblaster card on this system.

I use the VSC with Sonar and it sounds pretty good.
I've never heard the Roland Sound Canvas so I can't compare them.
Sounds like the VSC would work great for what you want.

Good Luck,

My aim would be to create/modify my own midi base, to import in n-track, play it with good sounds, rec it in a wav form (to keep instruments sounds) and play along with it with my guitar/bass/el.drum recording in digital.
If system and VSC allowed it, I may listen to midi base (VSC sounds) and rec digital with instruments plugged in, but I've read that it is not possible (or not easy) to do it, that's why I would transform midi in wav.

thanks , waiting for your opinion
