Vinyl Troubles - Calling all Computer DJs

Righty. I know this isn't a strickly hip hop question but i kinda thought DJs would have more experience with this kinda thing than most. I'm trying to sample some vinyl by running it from a deck into a phono box then from the phono box with a short RCA cable into a RCA-1/8" jack converter then into my mic input on my soundcard. I am getiing BAGS of distortion. I have a denon amp/tuner/cd player called a UD-M31. I could use this to take the signal from the phono box but i can't work out how to get the damn thing to take an RCA line signal and output that line signal to another RCA line. it even says Line input 1 line out put 1 etc etc but i can't make it do it.


HELLLLP!!!!
 
Best Advice:Get a Better Soundcard.
Solution To Try:Plug in the LINE IN instead of Mic Input

Try the line in jack on the sound card.
the out put of the line out is to hot and overloading the mic input.
Hope this helps :D
also check that your not using speaker out jacks if it has one.
 
What soundcard are you running? assuming your running windows xp anyway try opening the sound control panel or even better the Sound mixer and if there is a properties under mic. Click that And if it's on try turning of the +20 Db boost. Mine has the option though i have a sound blaster audigy 2 zs Soundcard
