Laser Turntables

The ELP Laser Turntable is expensive, but if you really love vinyl, it's the only way to listen. The five beam laser system picks up every nuance in the grooves while never touching the record; making a vinyl record last just as long, or longer, than a CD.

At the 2004 CES show here in Vegas I saw these machines in action and besides being cool as shit to use and look at, they sounded unreal! The only thing close is the super high end reference turntables like these http://www.highendpalace.com/HEP%20Analogue.htm, but even they will cause wear on records and some cost more than the ELP.

Of course at $15 grand they're out of most people's reach...but they are drool worthy!

No thanks. I'm perfectly happy with my college music department reject turntable that only needed a 20 dollar needle :-)

It's an Elac Miracord turntable, with a wooden case, and an all-mechanical belt-driven transport. It sounds good and gets the job done :)

Yes. Shiny things do stimulate the gland. :D

Also, "Audiophile Society" and everything that relates to it has very little (arguably nothing) to do with audio fidelity.
