The afforementioned Tom Dowd DVD is supposed to be pretty in depth. I am going to see if I can order it off Amazon this week.

Yeah, I don't deal with ebay. I can't find it to trust that site. Amazon is on par with them, but I've never had any problems with them so far...thajeremy said:got my copy from EBAY last night....buy it now at $16.66...

I was on Amazon today (I figured out this was the thread you were talking about when I remembered that we both had posted here), and I set aside that one and a couple books on recording. I haven't actually ordered them yet, as I have to make sure the wife paid off the card from the last dust collectors she bought...7string said:I FOUND IT!!!!!! (PM joke) Well I probably will have to buy the DVD too since I don't have a VCR to record it. But I've got a lot of DVD's that I have to order. The Pink Floyd one for Dark Side for one as well as a few others...
Even if it doesn't go into great detail, I still want it. I have always loved watching the making of FX shows and stuff like that. Gets my creative juices going. I am still going to get it...ds21 said:Yeah, I cought the tailend of the Tom Dowd thing the other night, I saw the whole thing a couple years ago, It doesn't go so much in depth about the mixing-e.q. or anything like that, but is really good showing what it's like to be a real engineer/producer, what our role really should be, good stuff.

I placed it on order a few minutes ago. I also ordered "Mastering Audio" by Bob Katz... oooh, I can't wait for them to come in!7string said:I'm watching it now. It mostly shows a lot of old footage of sessions and talks about some minor things they did. But so far (1 hour in) there's really nothing that can be used in modern day recording. I do like the footage of some of the old great groups and artists though.
