while i'm still working on the soundtrack posted before, another company hired me to do the title/trailer track for an xbox live adventure game with fluffy creatures, targeted to a very young audience

so the overall concept/tune is already approved by the client...now i am up to mixing and mastering

any comments so far?

first mock

i know that this would sound like cheesy elevator music to the more rock oriented members in here...but hey, i am just trying to pay my rent:D

Haha that sounds ridiculous! It's spot on for what you need I think. Instantly reminded me of Spyro. Where are the days? The melody and harmony are appropriately harmless, almost sterile.
Bass is a bit far back I think. You can hear it do all kinds of figures especially near the end, and it's too far away for that. Other than that it shouldn't be too hard to please your client with this, I'm sure.

thanks a lot.....the client was happy with the song. this one is for the sart screen/menu selection...now i have to do five more themes (pirates, outer space, stoneage, WW2....)

i think it sounds awesum if its for young audience not above 20 tbh.

HAHAHAHAH!! That's sounds awesome dude! It really came out well for a video game. The tribal one also sounds very video gamey. It kind of reminds me of Spyro the Dragon, but a bit different. it definitely sounds video gamey, but it has its own sounds. Awesome job dude! :D

ok,,,this is an very early scribble for the third tune....the pirate song. i would normally not post something like this (arrangement is absolutely dull and i hit way too many wrong keys), anyways....i'm a bit unsure about the theme, and i need some suggestions

i like the basic idea, but i really had a hard time to come up with anything...so please keep in mind that this is just thrown together real quick...does it has a "pirate/sailor" feeling for you?

thanks in advance

any comments on the "pirate" tune above?

any advice would be helpful

It sounds good. I think it sounds more like a hybrid between pirate and forest (or something along those lines). I don't think it sounds all the way pirate.

The pirate one could definitely be pirate with the proper visuals. I"m alternating between a pirate vibe and a scottish/party in The Shire vibe. Sounds good though. And it works perfectly if it's for a younger audience.

Scottish pirates it is.

So you don't do any MIDI? Do you play everything live off of a nice hardware synth then?

yes...maybe i am too old to understand the entire midi thing. but i also like the feel, if everything is not quantized to death....to me, regular midi recording sounds like "click, click" and live audio recording has more of the "shhhhmack"

hard to explain, but i really like that littlle imperfection

Yeah I know where you're coming from. I agree with you, even though I do MIDI anyway, only for the control after the fact.

Pirate theme is fine - I'd skip the Cpt Feathersword "Ahoy There" though try for something less obvious.
I like your organic approach.
