Sheeeit! Soo thats what a vibraslap is. ive got a sampled of that. I aint gonna post it, because the other samples are better than the one i have, but just never knew thats what it sounded like.

It's a great percussion instrument.
I usually think of Ozzy's 'Crazy Train' (at the beginning) or Hendrix's 'All along the Watchtower' (also at the beginning)
I time I won't forget: We purchased one to be expressly used on a particular song the first time we recorded in a real studio, and it broke after a few hits! But at least we got it recorded!

Thanks grn! It's the perfect length. It's for my son's song. I had to roll off the highs above 1.3k and the lows below 80. Slapped (no pun intended) some Rverb about 75 percent wet and it is just perfect.
My son was trying to make the noise with his voice to give me an idea of the sound he wanted, I laughed myself hoarse! But once I figured out what he wanted then it made sense. He came to me with the song and said, "Dad, something's missing. It needs a 'grrrrrrrr' sound in there." And then he proceeded to describe the sound in various ways and there I am laughing at him. He was getting mad at me for laughing so hard and then it suddenly hit me what he wanted.
But it sure does make a big difference in the song. And, as I said, the length fits the song perfectly! I'd post an MP3 but it's almost 7 minutes long. So if anybody REALLY wants to hear it let me know and I'll post it. It's my sons mix and it's not finished (and needs some REAL drums) so blame him.
