Am I the only one who always has catastrophic noise when I use the phantom power on my VF80? It sounds like the hum of the hard drive, and when I move faders, adjust trim etc, they all seem to make a loud electronic sound.

Sound's alright when I use it but then again I'm not really a sound snob so I might just not notice it.

I have only recently started using phantom power with my VF80 and have not experienced any noise problems. However, when I try to record the mix from a powered mixer (Behringer PMX2000) directly to the VF80 I get a hum that sounds like the hard drive rotating. Is there some connection here?

Phantom crud

Can you elaborate on this sound?

A drive rotating (poorly) sounds a little like a fan. I would expect that if you have a bad phantom power buss or bad blocking caps on the channel you are using you will hear power supply noise. One thing to check first is if your Mic is OK by trying it out on another mixer.

This is entirely abnormal.
