vc1q settings

can any one hhelp me with vocal settings that they have been successful with?

hmm,

I have a joemeek vc6q which is the younger brother to the vc1q, and some nice vocal settings I've come across are:

I just found this one out today. for a very pristine shimmery signal, turn the gain on the pre all the way down, and turn the final output all the way up.
Also boost the highs about 2 dbs and the mid about 2 dbs, with the sweepable mid knob at 3.6k

I always have the equaliser on, and I ALWAYS cut the lows by about 12dbs to 18dbs(which is the maximum you can cut from the lows.)

2.0:1 - 3:1 compression seems to work fine for vocals, with fast attack times and medium release times.


For a fat,warm sound, leave the highs untouched, remove about 1 db from the mids, and ALWAys cut lows(this may depend on your mic though).

also turn the gain up and send a lot of signal into the compressor. for that nice, warm sound, you want to see the compressor working.


that should be a good starting point.

one more thing,

the vc1q sounds a little bit different from the vc6q in the low end, so you might want to experiment with leaving the lows in your vocals .

hi sir lee,

I am using an AKG c414b/uls mic. The best thing in my studio.

Although, I ran a $40 mic through the joemeek once and it was true what the reviewers said. It makes a dynamic sound like a studio mic.

I can't wait to get an sm58 to run through this bad boy.
