variaxe trouble

calling all variaxe users

I was having a rehearsal yesterday & the thin E string kept on cutting out on me?? I tapped the saddle with my pick & it came back on only to cut out again later on. It's obviously some sort of intermittant connection issue

I just wondered if any other V/axe users have experienced the same problem??

I'm glad it happened in rehearsal & not on stage, YEESH that would've pissed me off big time. I have a plethera of other guitars but I prefer the variaxe in all honesty. I'll have to get my strat back on the road methinks, untill the variaxe is fixed anyhow

Each bridge saddle includes a pickup component for that string. It sounds like perhaps a loose wire for the E String. Not sure this is a user fixable thing. Call Line 6 first.

yes it's piezzo PU's in the saddle & I had more or less come to the conclusion you have Ed, I'll call Line 6 but I'm hoping my luthier friend or my "electronics can fix anything" man can help

you never know I might be able to fix it myself :rolleyes:
 
Tread carefully, as the pics I have seen of that area show small wires with short leads. Get a good magnifying glass and check out first.

A good local guitar guy may be able to fix as well. They are used to dealing with small parts, where some of us (me for example) have big fat fingers are more apt to create perhaps a bigger problem.

Everyone else seemed to answer it better, but I had a very similar problem, and all it needed was to be plugged in (it was running on batteries). But it might just have been the happy pills the men in white put me on.

Oh, and if you get this fixed, get it done by someone else unless you really know your shit. I have a phobia of other people fixing things the'yre not qualified to.
 
Is it still under warrenty? I'd tend to go through Line 6.

A side note; There's an extremely dangerous problem, at least on the Variax acoustic that they should have addressed. If a string breaks at the bridge end there's no containment and the ball end is free to roam about board and potentially cause all kinds havoc.

hmmmmmmmm not to good!!

my variaxe is no longer under warranty BUT I have a friend who fixes everything with wires, tubes & chips involved. The guys a wizard currently fixing a revox & 2 mixers for me & has seen virtually all of our tube amps
