v-amp pro or pod xt?

which is more worht buying, V-amp pro or pod xt pro?

Are you using your V-AMP into an amp? If you are thats why it sounds so muffled, the V-AMP and POD were both designed as replacements for amps - the V-AMP2 really shined once I ran it straight into my buddies Keyboard amp with a full range speaker.

Into a P.A., Keyboard amp, or for recording, those amp modelers rock. But if you run them through an amp, they always sound relatively flat and muffled. It would be like miking an AMP, then outputting that sound out through another amp instead of the P.A.
Not pretty...

Not bad at all. That's a killer song too, very well done. Whoa, I gave your Iraq song a spin. I've heard this before! Not bad, you should be a spokesman for Digitech man. Beats the hell out of anything I got out of my RP2000 and this just proves to me that guys need to work on getting their sound of modellers and not give up like I did on the RP2K. I wish I hadn't sold that thing now but my V-Amp is working good.

Thanks man! Yes, it took alot of tweaking and reading up on things to get it to sound half way decent.
 
Dude, I had a DIGITECH RP2000 as well. Got stolen. Replaced it with a POD.

Okay, there's a problem with many of these comparisons. I see a lot of V-Amp, not V-Amp 2. I see a lot of "I didn't like my POD"s. But we're not talking POD, POD 2.0, or V-AMP. We are talking POD XT and V-AMP 2, are we not? Not that I'm saying that talking about the original POD is useless, or that those posts are wasteful. Just keep in mind that the POD XT is a far better setup than the original. I would assume the same with the V-AMP.

I saw the POD XT floorboard the other day, and it looks like a seriously wicked controller for the POD XT. If you're looking to use your purchased unit live, then also look at accessories, because they are your add-ons when you save up more money.

My advice would be to go to a store and ask to try out botht he POD XT and V-AMP 2 at the same time. No amount of internet user suggestions can tell you what YOU think about them. If you go to a store and ask to compare 2 different things, they NEVER mind (unless they're assholes). That means that either way, they're probably going to sell you something. Go and compare them yourself.

However,

Behringer = cheaper cost = cheaper quality of construction
POD = more expensive = better quality components

Nope, I don't even own an amp. I'm doing everything direct. Just monitors and Headphones for sounds. I guess I should tweak more :D
 
although "My" sound i get with the behringer, i like the quality and design of the pod much more, so i vote pod.

that being said, i will someday soon on the rackmount version of the behringer.
 
ive had the vamp, now i have the xt, for the price the vamp is okay.. if you arent concerned with quality, the distortions are very shady at times.
i live by my xt, i have the model pack upgrades and now its amazing. so dont waste your money on a vamp if you want something that sounds like the real deal
 
used the xt and the vamp pro rack unit, preferred the rack vamp's tones, usability.

really nice box. Berry does great work when they ripoff something like the pod and actually improve it in the process (happens sometimes, vverb is another one that's better in some ways than the competition it rips off, at least within it's price point)
 
I should qualify by saying I wasn't using distortions in the box, so the xt may be better there (as pointed out above). I prefer to use these devices as amp sims and get the tone from stomps.

there's NOTHING like a real amp.. but these are all quite useful.

I have to agree...I have not owned the line 6 but I have recorded several....I say V-amp all the way...I have 2 v-amps by the way....
 
Buy the Line 6! I've just recently phased out my last piece of Behringer junk...I mean gear. Phew! What a relief. Seriously, I've found Behringer to be full of great features for the price, but when it comes to quality, you get what you pay for. Quantity not quality...buy the Behringer, quality not quantity...buy the POD. just my $.02. I've owned a LOT of Behringer stuff over the last 10 years.
 
I'll take my POD XT over my VAmp 2 any day. The VAmp 2 still gets occassional use. But not often. Just sounds more "artificial" than the XT to me.

exactly...I have had several pieces of Behringer gear over the years and most of them pretty much sucked....but the V-amp pro is one of their keepers....again...I liked mine so much that I purchased a second....so now I have one for studio, and one in my ex-live setup..
 
Oh. Sorry. I got the impression that you had several pieces, but missed the part where you stated that you owned that specific piece. My bad.

Also, to clear things up...
I just realized that I owned the Pod Pro, and Bass Pod Pro, and not the XT model. Can't say that I have played with the XT, so I guess my opinion, and experience is invalid.

I've only had the V-amp Pro, and V-amp Bass Pro. I can't speak for the V-amp 2. Can anyone tell me the difference? I don't believe I've ever come across a V-amp2 Pro. Is there such an animal, or wasn't the 2 made in rackmount?

Although I would never claim Behringer is road worthy (it has it's place in the studio rack), I have seen some of it in the racks of major artist. Alex Lifeson comes to mind quickly.
 
I have to say I've owned and ditched both but the V-amp pro was better IMO.

As this thread is like 4 years old, and with the speed of current computers I use a line 6 UX1 with pod farm and gearbox plugins for recording guitars and IK Multimedia's Ampeg SVX for recording bass with no audiable latency and get much better results than I ever did from the V-Amp Pro.

Software has definately improved.
 
if you dont have enough money for the pod xt, dont feel bad getting the v-amp 2.

both are great, but the options you get and the variance of tone is larger with the xt.

quality wise, the same.
 
I have the POD XT Pro and I Really Like it, I use The ART As DI And i have had very good results.
 
I love it when the OP was over a year old...and folks are still helping them.:p
