Using two or more interfaces...

I'm relatively new to the whole home recording environment, but i have got my hands on a basic set up and i have two inputs on my Avid Mbox 3rd generation, connected to my macbook via usb, and it is good i must say. But i was wondering is it possible to daisy chain on another interface via SPDIF and still have the compatibility with Pro Tools LE which required the Mbox interface to work???? Because i definitely would like to eventually have more channels to potentially record acoustic drums.

I just did a quick google of "Avid Mbox dasiy chain" and I don't think it's possible. You can do this with other interfaces though, most of the presonus line of firewire units can be dasiy chained together so I'm sure this is common for other manufacturers as well.

Would you advice that if i wanted mroe inputs i should go for something like the presonus firewire, but having said that my macbook doesnt have firewire inputs.
Also if i were to buy something with more inputs, how would i get it to work on pro tools, as it requires a dedicated interface from avid i think???
Also what would the SPDIFs on this Mbox be useful for then??

If you upgrade to PT9 the hardware restriction is lifted and you get more options. You could also just try another DAW. A lot of hardware even comes with multi-track software. Have you looked into the Tascam US-2000? It's got 8 mic inputs, 6 line inputs, 2 S/PDIF and comes with Cubase.

Yer i do like the idea of the pro tools 9 upgrade would make life easier with any third party interface, although dont get me wrong the Mbox 'does what it says on the tin' it is good but just have expansion in mind.
Also I am quite interested in the tascam US-2000 thanks for the suggestion, seems like a pretty good route to take tbh!
Also in theory i could just manually switch interfaces if need be, for different uses etc, and jsut change preferences dependant on what interface iw ould be using at the time??
