I have a Tascam 788 digital hard disk recorder which I bought before buying Cubase SL and have about 15 songs on there. Does anyone out there have the 788 too and use both the 788 and Cubase. If so, how would I go about using the two together in a practical sence and, more importantly, how would I set up the two up so I can transfer my songs over to Cubase (if transferring the songs is even necessary).

Any help is greatly appreciated so I can blow the dust off my 788 if there's a use for it.

I take it you want to import the audio form the 788 to Cubase? If you have a SCSI CD writer then later versions of the 788 allow you to export tracks as .wav files which you should be able to import directly into Cubase. If it's and older 788 then the only way to import the individual tracks is to record them through your soundcard as stereo pairs.

Thanks. I do have the Tascam CDRW 788 so I'll have to read the manual to find out about saving the tracks as .wav files.

Once I do that, do I just go into Cubase and import them somehow? My goal is to create a new project in Cubase using the 788 tracks that I will have on CD after saving them as .wav files so I can have more tracks and mix them in Cubase.

Sorry if I'm a little slow as to how to do this.

Thanks so much shockingcandy. You've helped me greatly especially with that link to the Tascam forum.
