Using pre-amp from AW2816 for computer recording

I thought I need to buy a preamp but it just occur to me that my recorder AW2816 has a preamp built-in with a phantam power so my question is this. How can I utilize my 2816's preamp to record a vocal on my computer? I need 2816 for play back too so I cannot use the audio out.

(I know I'm asking a silly question since 2816 is a recorder too. But I like to try my sonar 2.0 XL and a whole buch of utilities that came with it.)

Do you have a digital I/O on your sound card? If so track into the 2816 and transfer it to Sonar. ID still buy an outbd preamp If I were you...More colors in the crayon box

YES I DO, SIR. When I read your reply my jaw dropped.
My sound card has digital I/O and I've been dying to use it for some thing. Now I'll have a chance to put it in good use. But can I track it in real time though? I don't quite know how at this point but I guess I need to do my home work unless you can give me a crash course in one reply.
