Using Parametric EQ to sweep frequencies

I use HS 2002.

I've read EQing advice that when you have questions about what frequencies of a particular instrument to boost or cut, that you should use a Parametric EQ to sweep the frequencies and see when they jump out.

With HS's Para EQ, the EQ is a complete process. You have to do the whole track at once. So to sweep frequencies would be quite a chore.

Is there a way in HS to sweep frequencies while listening to the track?

Thanks.

I don't use HS2002, but you should be able to do this by using the parametric EQ as a realtime plugin.

Patch it into the FX box for the track you want to work with and open it up. Then hit the main Play button. You should be able to work the controls of the EQ while the song is playing.

BTW, you would use this same method for any effect that you wish to audition. Once you get it to sound the way you want, just leave it on the track as a realtime effect (assuming you have enough CPU power to handle it).

Dachay is right, should work as an fx as you play back. Right click fx in track view. HS 2002 is a cut down version of Sonar so works in the same way. Best of luck.
