Using hardware EQ or Comp to already recorded digital track?

Hi,

I mostly use software mixing but if I have a hardware processor and would like to use it for my already recorded digital track, how am I going to use it. Do I send it to output through the hardware processor the back to input of my interface? Then thats going to be a lot of DA to AD conversion since already did that whe it was first recorded.

Certainly something to take into consideration -- But if the conversion is up to the task and the compressor is actually worth running the signal through, it's nothing to fear.
