so i have my roland 1880 hooked up to my m-audio 2496 sound card via spdif in and out. My roland has a internal hi-z guitar jack and i was curios if i can plug my guitar through it and then use my guitar in amplitube (via tracktion 2)....is this possible
if so tell me how?
thanks guys

Sure. Just record you guitar, then insert Amplitube into the guitar track and start tweakin

sure it should be possible, providing that you select the SPDIF as the input source in your recording program. honestly though it sounds a wee bit overcomplicated to use that signal chain.. why not just plug your guitar directly into the card, using either an RCA to stereo jack cable with a 1/8-1/4" adaptor, or a guitar patch cable and a 1/4"-1/8" adaptor..

If you're not micing a cabinet, you really need a Hi-Z input otherwise direct in will sound crappy

yeah, sounds easier to get the 1/4 to rca cable. i just didnt think that would work
i'll try that soon
thanks guys

Not entirely true. If it's a balanced input, not Hi-Z, it will be quieter, but as long as the card can push enough gain it will be fine. I've been doing it this way for years (never had a Hi-Z input) and it's always worked. If the card can't provide enough gain then it won't sound to great, but it's worth a shot.
