i am using several BOSS pedals, but was thinking about buying a MULTI EFFECT such as lexicon etc.

since i am not familiar with this gear-----is it meant for electric guitars too??
i know it is not for distortion, but how about other effects: revrb,chorus....
is it by far better then my BOSS pedals?

Which unit(s) specifically are you looking at?
And how do you intend on using them? You mentioned a recording studio, so do you plan on adding them to your recording? or to your guitar chain like a pedal?
What is it exactly that you want to achieve?

mainly i am interested in reverb and chorus, and want to add it to the sound chain.....instead of the clumsy pedals

What they are asking is if you want to apply the reverb and chorus to your guitar sound after you record it, or while you are recording it.

It's an important question because the effects processors are geared for different uses. If you're going to add the effects to recorded tracks during the mixing phase, then "studio effects" units like the Lexicons are what you want.

If you're looking to integrate the effects processor into your guitar rig, then you want to look for a processor that is meant for that purpose, like the TC Electronic G-Major. These sorts of units can be controlled by a MIDI footswitch, and the G-Major can even switch channels on your amp.

Technically, you can use either processor in either application. You can hook a "studio" Lexicon into your amp's effects loop, or use the G-Major to process recorded tracks during mixing. But the unit's auxiliary features - like MIDI control, amp channel switching, reverb and delay "spillover", etc. - make them more suited for specific applications.

Yeah, Dirty brings up a good point. If you want to just add effects to your guitar recordings, a lexicon should do well. But if you're using it live, you might want to think about a processor for just guitar. The G-Major is a top of the line unit. It cost around $1100.00 with the footboard........ I think. There's the all in one floorboard units by Digitech, Line 6, Boss, and Vox. I've tried all of them and they all have different advantages (except POD XTL...it's junk IMO). If you have a tube amp, and want to continue to use the distortion, I'd recommend the Boss GT-8. It works out fantastic with the 4 cable method. If you want to use the processors modelled amps, than I'd recommend Digitech's GNX 3000. It has pretty cool amp modellers. Good luck!
