Hello all,

I'm getting together a Pro Tools 9 setup and my question concerns recording midi drums. I've liked using drum loops in the past but sometimes there's a certain beat or fill I'd like to get. Which plugin could I use to take the samples I get from the drum loops and use them to record midi drums?

Edit: Sorry, I just realized this might belong in the Newbie forum :( My apologies of that's the case.

I think you basically need something called a 'virtual instrument', which is basically triggered by MIDI to replay pre-recorded samples at the appropriate time.
Something like virtual drummer would probably be a good place start doing some research on, once you know exactly what it is you need.

Thanks for the response, yeah that's basically what I'm looking for. I'll look into virtual drummer.

I've been looking at xpand and I like how it looks but I don't know if allows you to patch your own samples. I'll of course just check myself when I get everything :)

Xpand does not allow you to load in your own samples.

Poise by one small clue is an affordable host for loading samples into DAWs..works very well too and allows you to load eight samples (i think) onto each pad to get some real beefy kicks etc

VSTi only dooder. Pro Tools uses RTAS.
