using an mpc element as a pad controler with an alesis sr16, can anyone tell me how ?

I am trying to use this little devil as a pad controller, and don't want to use the software for anything, I just want to be able to hit the pads, and trigger the sounds in the sr16

Use your midi connections. Why not just use the Alesis as it is and avoid the extra work?
