Using a VSTi without having to make 5+ copies of it

I'll admit, I'm an absolute noob when it comes to Cubase, and I'm sure there's SO much that I'm missing out on in this program just by being uneducated.

But, I get by for the most part. There's only one thing I was wondering, and my apologies of it's blatantly simple.

For example, say I want to use a lead synth from the A1 synthesizer VST that comes with Cubase. I load it up in the VST instruments window, add my MIDI track, select A1 as my out, choose my lead synth and I'm good to go!

But now, what if, on a seperate MIDI track, I want to use a bass synth from that same A1 synthesizer? The only way I found around this was just adding a second instance of the A1 synthesizer, and using that. But when I want a ton of pads from one VST I have like 5 copies of that same VST and everything gets super cluttered.

Is it possible to use multiple pads from the same VST without having to use a separate instance of it for every one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

You could always try to set another bank for another midi track. I've tried this with Absynth some years ago and it worked.
But - I'm pretty sure it will not work with every instrument. Just try for yourself.

Most Vsts are mono timbrel meaning you need a new instance for every new sound...

some exceptions are the likes of hallion or Ni Kontact where you can use the same instance for 16 parts. you just use different midi channels.

another option is to bounce stuff down to audio tracks.
