Hi,

Im trying to set up two seperate user accounts on my w7 computer so that one will be for my games and internet, and the other will be for recording. I have created the accounts and am wondering if there is a way to disable my network card in the recording account but not in the internet/gaming account. When i disable it in one it does the same to the other. There are certain other things i want to do like turn off all the windows sounds and flashy OS stuff like aero but it looks like if i do that in one account it will apply to the other account. Is there any way around this ?

note, i do not want to buy another computer lol

Unfortunately I think that device management is user independent. So, as you discovered, whatever changes you apply as Admin, applies to all subsequent users.

I would love to be wrong about this as I want to do the exact same thing. ;)

Can't you unplug the network cable when you're recording? If you use a wireless connection, it usually takes only a moment to disable WIFI on your computer. At any rate, a modern PC shouldn't have any problems with leaving the network connection active while recording. I know older laptops used to have a skipping or clicking problem when recording, but I haven't encountered that recently. I've certainly never encountered such a problem with my W7 PC.

As far as Aero goes, you can disable that on a per program basis. Here's how:

Go to your DAW's folder in "Program Files" and find the .exe file for the program. Actually you can just right-click on the desktop shortcut (or in the Start Menu) and select Properties. Go to the "Compatibility" tab. Click on "Disable Desktop Composition" then hit Apply. Done.

Now every time you start up your recording software, Aero with automatically shut off.
