I am trying out the waves limiter. And i want to get a good volume level. Seems after i bounce it still sounds quite.

I use the setting master 16-bit highest quality. Then i lower the threshold on it to about 6 or so instead of 4. Makes it louder. What should i do with the ratio?

Any other adivce out there?

before the song starts, make sure that the threshold and out ceiling meters are reset.

then let the song play and see how high the threshold meter is.

what's your loudest peak? what's your average level? if your loudest peak is very much below 0db, then you need to raise the overall volume of your mix by either:

1) raising the mains

2) raising all of your tracks in a relative manner to increase your overall volume.

I recommend #2 until you get to a point where either your mix is loud enough, or your loudest individual track can not be raised any further without going over -0.

Now you apply the L1 to your mains, and bring the threshold down until you are satisfied that the transients have been "limited" thereby raising your average loudness overall.

Sometimes, I put a C4 ahead of the L1 on the mains. That way I can compress the mix where necessary in the frequency range that needs it so that my mix is a bit more balanced then I limit the transients.
