use computer as drum module

I have always wondered if there is a way to use your computer as a drum module for electronic drums. Isa there any way to connect a drum module to your computer and record the midi imputs?Also,can recorded samples be added to any drum modules that you guys are aware of?

Native Instruments Battery is kinda designed to do this. I have my DM5's MIDI out hooked up to my computer and I load up my samples in Battery and play. Works pretty good. Really, any software sampler should let you do this.
