So I have an issue

I have a Rode Procaster which I connect to my PC with a Tascam 122 and everything was fine. However while doing live broadcasts I was hoping to have some compression and EQ options. So I thought it would be a good idea to buy a Behringer Xenyx Q802 USB Mixer.

I've set it up and seem to be unable to get any signal from my Rode Procaster? I have all the audio levels up and active to the best of my knowledge and the unit work as I can get my PC audio to play through the device.

Have I made a mistake here and my Rode wont work without a USB audio interface?

I've tried customer support but it's a weekend so if anyone here knows that would be awesome!

Mics don't care what they're plugged into, especially dynamics, which I think your Rode Procaster is, from a quick google. Generally it's not the mic that's the problem.

You've omitted one important detail.... what program are you using for you "live broadcasts" and does it know that you've plugged a mixer into your computer?

The Xenyx IS a USB interface. It's the same as the tascam except with a few more functions.

Armistic is right. Your recording software probably doesn't know where to look for audio input.
Tell us what you're using, and have a look through the setup menus to see if you can select the mixer as in/out device.

Go into sound options and make sure its set to your default audio device and default recording device.
right click on the speaker on your task bar, click sounds, go to the playback and recording tabs and set your mixer as default. if you don't see the mixer you need to go in the interwebs and find the drivers

" I was hoping to have some compression and EQ options. So I thought it would be a good idea to buy a Behringer Xenyx Q802 USB Mixer."...Err? The 802 does have basic EQ but not compression.

Note also that W7 (?) sees usb audio devices as "microphone inputs" as a rule. You will probably have to dig into the sound settings and reduce the gain drastically. I did with my A&H ZED10.

Dave.
