USb midi keyboards

I'm thinking of getting a midi keyboard controller for use with Cubase on a Pc and noticed that some have USB ports as well as midi ports. What does this mean? Is the output from this basically the same as a midi out but maybe faster/slower/different in some other way? Since i have a USB port on my PC is it worth getting one of these (the seem to have general MIDI outputs as well anyway)? Basically what's the difference in hooking up a keyboard via midi or USB?
 
The biggest difference is that many high grade (read Pro Audio) sound cards do NOT have a MIDI or "Joystick" port on them. Rather than get another sound card (and all the IRQ headaches that entails) you can hook up some keyboards via the USB port.

aah does this mean you need the USB port on the soundcard NOT just anywhere in your pc? In which case, the USB is useless to me anyways

The keyboard has built in USB interface. It's not ordinary MIDI 5 din. Using special cable, hook it into your existing USB in your PC. So your PC's USB can be used as MIDI port... Leave the sound card just for Audio works.
 
It's like Korg X5D or O5R/W that has special PC MIDI interface. Use special cable pluged into PC's serial port, install the driver, voila... The difference is new keyboards use USB rather than serial port.
