Hi, I need someone's insight about the new USB microphone from Blue, the Yeti Pro.

I got mine a couple days ago and I haven't really tried them out well because I don't have my own room so I try to find a place to record.

I will use it mainly for rapping, singing, and playing my classical guitar.

Anyone who has this and any thoughts? Thanks

I have one and it pickes up everything, I mean everything. I have to stop recording when a loud car goes by or it starts raining!
It pickes up my chair if I move around when singing. I'm still playing with the settings so it could be me not knowing how to set it!

It's USB, so obviously it's limited in quality, but hey...it fits your situation with not having your own room!

I've heard that it's one of the most solid usb-mics available for the price.

That's true.
I am using Adobe Audition 3 to record and edit the tracks. I have managed to minimize the background noise using the Noise Reduction option and it sounds pretty good to me. Hopefully I can learn new techniques to reduce the hiss noise while still having the full quality of the recorded instrument/voice.

Only downside it you'd probably find it hard to use a pop filter with it....because of its built. Not sure if it even needs one really...does it?

Unless it has one built in, every mic should have a pop filter.

I have a pop filter on my blue yeti and only need it if I'm right up to it!
I'd send a video of my set up and me singing but cant post a url for some reason!
I have over 5 post but just two I started!
That could be it???

Hi, how does your Blue Yeti microphone sound? Does it have a lot of background noise(hiss)?

I had the same problem. I would tap on the desk and it would pick it up. I used a noise gate and it got rid of the problem.

What I would like to know it, does it have different sound quality if it's on XLR as opposed to USB?

The fact you ask suggest you have learned little in your time here so far.
Mate please read the stickys. Get a good book. Get lessons. If your going to run a studio.
Usb mics are for podcasting and are generally not considered of sufficient qaulity for studio application

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to kip4 again. ;)

I've got a Yeti Pro and tried it out a couple of weeks ago. The quality's very good, the trouble is the gain is quite low even when cranked up to max, so you get a quiet recording. However this does have the side effect of eliminating all background noise which is quite useful in a way. Whether this is by design or a fault is hard to tell. If you can talk directly into it it's not too much of a problem, recording guitars and things further away might not work too well.

If you're using a mac you can help correct it as shown in this video: Blue Yeti Pro - Low Gain Fix for Mac (and maybe PC?) - YouTube
I use a PC myself with a usb connection.

The other problem I had was the headphone output tends to pop and crackle when you play back through it. I think it's the PC driver that's at fault, hopefully they'll fix it. So all things considered it's a bit hard to recommend one right now, it'll be excellent once they fix up these issues though.
