Hope someone can help with this.
Am using the Tascam US122 and have attached a condenser mic to the unit with a XLR cable. I can only record in Mono - any Stereo attempts only come out of one channel. I have made sure the Mono switch is in the Off position but still no Stereo recording.
Can someone let me know what settings I should be looking at in order to get a stereo voice recording.
Thanks
Nick

You need to use 2 mic's, or an actual stereo mic to record in stereo.

Hey, Nikwak.

If you're recording into Cubasis, the track from one mic will be mono, but it will be centered in the stereo output. The virtual mixer will have a pan slider on it, so if you want to move it off center during playback you can.

What are you trying to do with a stereo vocal track?

I used a US122 to record the song listed in my signature line. Give it a listen! Thanks!

In addition to what the other two posts said, I have this to add. The mono switch is for monitoring purposes only. It's especially handy when you are tuning two instruments to each other. Without the two signals blended with each other its hard to tell if they are in tune or not. It's also useful If you are trying to determine the overall balance between the left and right channels. If you record two channels with the mono switch ON, it will still record two channels which you can pan left or right. FYI!

Of course tuning is only really an issue if you're monitoring through headphones.
