:( Im not a happy camper right now... Ive had the US-122MKII for a few
months now. Ive only ever used it to record audio tracks straight to sonar
8.3.1. Never had an issue worked great. Then yesterday I wanted to use my
Korg Triton Studio keybord as a controler to play the SYNTH sounds from
one of the sonar soft synth programs. I can get midi output signal but no
input signal. When I connect my Triton to another modual I have I can see
the midi signnal going to the modual from my Triton, works just as it should.
I even tried hooking up 2 other keyborads to the 122mkII and still no input
at all. I made sure I got the new update for it and sonar has it listed for a
midi input device but I just cant get that input to work. Thought it was
maybe broke so I took it to the music store I got it from. Tested and
PASSED ! WTF is going on here, why cant I get a midi input signal at home
but it works fine in the music store? My pc runs windows 7 pro, i7 920 @
3.57GHz with 3 gigs ram, 64 bit OS. Thanks for any info on this guys!

How is everything connected?

What do you mean by "I can get midi output signal but no
input signal."

The midi out of the triton is connected to the midi in of the interface?

Im talking about the 122MKII, my triton works just fine. I can send midi signal from the 122MKII but I cant get a midi in signal. Im sorry if I wasnt clear on this. The problem seems to be between my 122MKII and my computer, or at least I think it is. WHich really sucks because that means I might have thisproblem with what ever USB interface I plug into the damn thing. I just dont understand why something as simple as midi doesnt work.

Ok, you're still not clear on how everything is set up. What is plugged into what port on each device.

midi out from triton studio to the midi input on the 122MKII. NO midi indicator light on the 122MKII. I just want to use the triton as a controler for the soft snyth modulas in sonar. Thats all Im trying to do.

Ok,
try looping the midi out of the interface to the midi in of the interface and see what happens (send some midi data out from a virtual midi keyboard). Also, try another cable since it has to be either the Triton (which appears OK), the cable, or the midi in on the interface and the cable is the most likely culprit.

its not any of my cables and have tried 3 different cables that work just fine everywhere else. OK so I did as you posted, AND the results are I was able to send a midi signal out of sonar from a virtual keyboard to a new channel that played a piano sound. I was also able to record my notes from the source track to the new tack and got a midi input signal for each note as it played. SO what does this mean? I cant imagine its the triton becuase I can use the midi output from it as a controler for my JV880 modual. Also I tried connecting an old PSR yamaha keyboard I have and still no midi input signal.

very strange. are you running windows? If so, grab midiOX. It will monitor the midi channel and show exactly what is being transmitted.

Also having similar problem! I recently bought the Tascam US-122 MKII USB Audio/MIDI Interface to record mic inputs and Yamaha CS1X keyboard into Cubase. The CS1X is connected to the US-122 via MIDI cables which is then connected to laptop through USB. Trouble is I cant get the MIDI to function how it should. The MIDI IN light does not come on at all. Should the MIDI IN light come on just by pressing a key on the keyboard? Or does the whole thing need to be set up correctly in Cubase before it will even think about identifying MIDI?!

If I record MIDI tracks into Cubase using another keyboard, and then set the OUT channel to my CS1X and play it back, the MIDI OUT light does come on but does not transmit the data to the CS1X in order for the sound to come out. Is this what you are experiencing?

I feel your pain, I have a Tascam US-122 and when I bought a new Imac (the current mid July 2010 models) and running Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.4 (shipped that way) , The Tascam US-122 did not have Snow Leopard Drivers , (stopped at OSX 10.5.x Leopard ) but I surfed the net and found info (I have not posted enough to post a link to the web site ) where users of the Same unit downloaded the Universal Binary drivers (PPC-Intel) and also used a USB Powered Hub (plugged in to AC) , when they disconnected the powered hub (USB 2.0) their Tascam US-122 would not work , Plugged the powered hub in and peripheral devices in (re Audio Interface and ? keyboard (the thread I read was getting the A/I to work ) and Powered USB 2.0 Hubs are not that costly Belkin, Griffin, Even several used ones bought at Radio Shack, there is info as well in Apple Support on USB 2.0 ports (they put put 5V and 500ma but some devices (such as a Audio Interface without a external power supply ) of which I think applies to the US-122MK and US-144MK (adding SP/DIF) I found the info surfing Tascam US-122 and Mac Snow Leopard Compatibilty (as I did download the Universal Binary drivers and no go) and figured well its one of the first items I bought when recording etc, its USB 1.1 and its been a good run, I can not promise You thats The solution but the signs and symtoms You descrive are also on that site with models such as yours and the white unibody models the US-122L ? e-mail me and I will provide the web site
