Hi all,

Don't hate me because I use Cool Edit 2000 and not Pro. I do voice work only and it has all the capability I need.

My hard drive crashed and I lost my software. I have the registration code, but need the software. I found a trial copy on another bulletin board but it won't allow me to use the registration code.

Can anyone help? I desperately need to get this up and running. Clients are already anxious.

Thanks!

Wish I could help you, but I haven't even seen that app in years. Have you tried any P2P filesharing sites? (I say this only b/c you have the registration code, lol).

Syntrilllium used a registration code and key that you plug the serial number into. Luckily I had never deleted mine from when they sent it to me via email. So when my computer cratered recently and I had to reload everything from scratch that saved me.

Drummer - that link is to a free download of 2.1, not 2000.

Also, I've got a question about that site - it says the download's free. Okay, Syntrillium's extinct, so free downloads of its software aren't piracy, right? But since 2.1 and Adobe Audition are virtually the same program, then any free download of 2.1 is virtually piracy, no? Opinions?

Dobro- I think I disagree, though I'm not sure why yet...

Kimberly, I think Computer Music magazine gives away CE2000 each month on its CD. You should double check, but I think it's 2000. Might be a demo of 1.2

Its available at bigger bookstores, alot of music shops, and some computer outlets.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Still no luck. I will run by Staples tomorrow and see if they have Computer Magazine.... that's the closest we have to a computer or large bookstore.

I guess I have learned my lesson, as far as doing a system backup. My new pc has CDRW and DVDRW, thank goodness.

Thanks again!

I don't hate you.

And I also use CE2000 ... :D

However, I am a looong way away from you, so if you want me to snail mail a CD, let me know - personally, it is only 9 MB (!!) so if you have a place I can upload it to, that would work much better.

Mike

teknomike! TY!

I do have a place you can upload it to. If you'll email me, I'll send you the instructions.

If you weren't so far away, I'd kiss you! ;-)

Thanks again to everybody.

I've had the same prob late last year. But the link below is provided for by Adobe. Hope you've written down the Registration Key to simplify the reinstall process. If you've lost the Key, send email to Adobe's Customer Support and explain urself.
If you bought CE2000 from Sytrillium, they could locate the info from it's database. That's how I got my situation cleared and to show my appreciation, I upgraded to Audition for $99 clams...well worth it!

kimberly - I've sent you a PM - just PM me back. However, Akacha's done me one better - just download from that link.

Akacha !
Great link - you know, I may do the exact same thing. I've enjoyed using CE2K, but I need something more than 4 tracks. And I'm getting pissed with Cubasis.
Audition may be what I'm looking for. What are your thoughts ?

Great thread - I'm a happy camper tonite !
:D

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I am all set and running. Thanks Akacha for the link. I don't know why Adobe didn't give me that link when I called them. But, you came to the rescue!

Thanks teknomike and everyone else..... I feel like I'm at the Academy Awards and I'm going to forget to thank someone.

Anyway, maybe down the road I'll upgrade to Audition. Just now, though, I've already spent over $700 that I didn't expect to spend on a new pc. Gotta bring in some more work!

Need any female voiceovers anyone?

HAVE A GREAT DAY! :-)

teknomike

Hey teknomike (and Kimberly)

So glad I could help...information should be available to those that warrant it.

My two cents on AdobeAudition...easy to use without tutorials, plugin capability, multiple tracks, wav editing, mixdown processing, and I know many more...I'm still exploring!
I use AA along with my new P4 2.66, Tascam U-122, Roland Fantom keyboard, Digitech Midi Vocalist (it's hard to reach dem high soprano notes when you're a tenor) and a Mackie Powered Mixer (808S). I'm very happy with the end results so, I know AA is a keeper. I've heard many neg responses regarding the U-122 and CakeWalk Home Studio as a duo so AA is for moi!

I'm a kinetic person, I press buttons first then see what kind of results it makes...

Thanks, I think I'm going to go for it - at $99, you can't really lose with a proven product like this.

My only issue is downloading to a country they say I can't purchase online from ...

Hey, I'm a tech, I'll figure something out ! :D

Cheers,
Mike

"I'll figure something out"

Well, you've done that before... :D

My solution... move to the United States haha

To Infringers:

I wonder if you spent countless hours and expense writing code, then spend additional money to market your product only to have it 'stolen', will it make you THINK TWICE? Seems like everytime someone 'rips' off a copy, the manufacturer tacks on a few more dollars for the legit copy. We end up paying for your P2P antics.
Then for some odd reason, your bootleg copy encounters errors then you come in here and ask for fixes...too bad we only have two cheeks for you to slap! I won't be surprised if that copy from a P2P server actually has some NASTY virus attached...it'll be our salvation believe me!

Just BUY your copy! What goes around...comes around...ten fold!
