Hi,
I am a new one in this matter .so please help
I am planning to buy a keyboard for music making using computer
my budget is 200 $ max
I found two models
1. maudio avid keystudio ~148 $ with tax
2. maudio axiom 25 ~ 198 $ with tax
I am not planning to connect any other instruments ..
which is the best choice .I am planning to buy it tomorrow ,so please advice as early as possible .

It depends on what you need.
The KeyStudio has 49 keys. That's pretty much it's only advantage over the other. I have used this one, and it works as one would expect. It's nothing amazing though, but not bad.
The Axiom 25 has 25 keys, but it has a bunch of other controls. These should be able to be mapped to parameters in your software, so instead of turning fake knobs with your mouse, you can turn real knobs. It's definitely a better keyboard, but if you aren't using the other controls, it's useless. Because it has less keys, it wouldn't be good for playing normal piano pieces or something.

Why is it so urgent?

^thanks for fast reply..yea I promised the shop guy that I will place order tomorrow ..they have keystudio in stock .
I am not planning to connect any other instruments...I am planning to play keyboard ,violin,drums..all types of tones using this keyboard...so please advice me the best one.

Either one should work equally well for that, but I would personally prefer to have the knobs and stuff. It also has trigger pads, which are cool. However, they aren't essential if you want to save $50.

The Axiom 25 is better, if you think you will have a use for the extra features. It's not too much more expensive for all of the other features it has, and you will probably want those features some day. It will take a bit of learning to make use of them though...

So I guess this will be my final answer: If you are willing to spend the extra cash, you should probably get the Axiom 25. You'll be able to use it as a keyboard just as easily as the other, and it has potential for more advanced use in the future.

25 keys may well be a limitation. Granted you can transpose to upper or lower octave. For me the knobs are a waste of time as I believe why waste the time mapping your mouse controls/keystrokes/vst parameters etc. to your keyb'd. To each his own I guess. I have a cheap oxygen 49 with lots of knobs- never use them. I do like the extra keys. Guitar player here so what the heck do I know a bout palying keyb'd, not much. I usually plunk down a key'bd section be it horns, brass, drums then move back to PC and do all the other work. My.o2. Be well all. Oh BTW, save the tax and order from reputable vendor out of state.

no problem in spending 50 extra ... is 25 key a big problem for making music using pc's ?

Well, depends. Are you going to be recording audio or through midi. If through midi (In my opinion) it doesn't matter unless you're pulling sound from your keyboard.

Have you got it yet ?

I don't know anything about the specific models but if, like me, you're not a keyboardist but you use virtual instruments/samples, the least amount of keys I'd go with would be 49. Anything less and you're having to devote more time than you ought to it because you'll be mapping and papping rather than just selecting an instrument and playing.

I went through the same thing a while back and got an axiom 25 with all of the bells and whistles and ended up dumping it for one big reason. The plastic on the sides of the keys comes up to high and restricts playing of the first and last note on the keyboard. I ended up getting the oxegon 49 which is available at Sweetwater for $159.00. It doesn't have the pads (which I didn't need) and is built a little bit lighter than the axiom but I have no intention on carrying it out so its fine. I like the sliders which allow me to set them as drawbars on organs or as mixer sliders on the software mixers. There is a lot of control available for your DAW from the keyboard with this unit. 49 keys lets me play most things I need for recording purposes . I love the unit and its actually maybe cheaper than the axiom 25

So what? Do your research and figure out what you want.

Personally I would want 49 keys over 25...if you're mostly simulating acoustic instruments, you might not have much need for the knobs during a performance, but if you're doing the synth thing...you'll probably end up really wanting to be able to tweak during the performance.

My kids know that there is one thing in this entire universe never to ask me and that is "Do you promise ?". If I say yes, it's yes and if I say no it's no although as they get older I allow the flexibility of negotiation ~ sometimes.
But I never make promises because I think just for honour's sake you're bound to keep them and life is not that black and white and straight down the line.
It's different on your wedding day or whatnot, but not for a MIDI keyboard !

oh my god ...what was that ^
anyway I,placed an order for axiom 25 ...now waiting for it .
