Upgrading!

I currently have an Echo Mona, I orig wanted to purchase a Metric Halo unti, however I have a pc, so :(

I'd really like to upgrade to another interface with built in pre's, for simple convience, and I'm working with about $2,000 for the interface, any suggestions on what's the ideal interface for that price?

I only record hip hop/rap/r&b Never instruments, and never more than one artist at a time, I'm simply looking for the absolute best quality I can achieve for this price, as I'll be spending another $1,000 on monitors, and upgrading every cable in the studio as well.
 
I dunno. If I had a couple G's for an input device I think I'd have to buy the Tascam FW-1884. $1300. Then spend the other $700 on lots of beer while you record. :D (might have to use $30 of that for a firewire card if you don't have one though) The FW-1884 Has all the goodies and it's a control surface as well.....
 
lol I dont drink, so I dont get to waste any $ like that :(

I've been thinking about selling my pc, and buying a Mac, just so I can get the Metric, I went to a local studio, and asked a guy there, and he said he has one, and he'd let me borrow it, so I'll be able to see what thats like soon.
