Hey ALL
Im currently using my console's pres (TMD4000).
I want to upgrade and I was looking at the VTB-1, then I started thinking that this may not be much of a upgrade. SO I figured I would jump up in price and consider either a Grace 101 or a Presonous MP20. Ive read were the Grace is pretty solid and the MP20 can be pretty good as well depending on which trans (Jensen) are installed.
My current mic list:
sm57
MXL v67g
adk51
for starters.
I would be using this new pre mainly for Vox. Hip Hop and R&B.
If any of you have used these 2 pres, what do you think about them based on my application?
Or if you know of any others that are good along this price range 400-500, point me to them.
Or should I just go ahead and wait a while and jump on a Avalon, Manley or maynbe RNP ( I think ) from Fletcher.
Great River maybe?
Im getting pretty good vox right now, but I would like to get them a little thicker without EQing the hell out of them. I like to use as little EQ on vox as possible.
Im taking all comments and suggestions.
Thanks
Malcolm
