Hello everyone,
I just got a Fostex Dmt-8 and have been reading about upgrading the hard drive. However it's making me more confused the more I read.
I have the v2.12 Chips and software installed which is supposed to support a maximum
size of 30 gigs I believe.
What brand/model of hard drive is recommended for these DMT-8 recorders? Can someone who has upgraded it to the maximum size it will allow chime in with what
they installed in their recorder?
Another siite I read says this:
QUANTUM/MAXTOR FIREBALL LCT SERIES UP TO 8.4G ( W/LAST SOFTWARE )
• DMT8 V2.12
Then it goes on to say this at the bottom of the page:
NOTE: ALL UNITS WITH THE NOTED SOFTWARE ( OR HIGHER )CAN EXCEED DRIVE CAPACITY OF 30G. ANY SOFTWARE LOWER THAN WHAT IS LISTED, THE CEILING FOR THE DRIVE IS 30G EXCEPT WHERE NOTED.
Does this mean the unit can handle a super high capacity drive for almost unlimited recording time?
Or does it mean that any size drive can be used but it will only recognize and use 30 Gb of space?
Any and all help is appreciated. I can't wait to start recording!!!
