Hello everyone
I currently run an AMD 64 X2 processor with 3 gigs of ram.
I am considering moving to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Processor OEM, Corsair 2048MB PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz Memory

Do you think I will gain alot of processing power with this upgrade?

Here is the bundle I am considering.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Processor OEM, Corsair 2048MB PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz Memory

That processor is pretty smoking hot - I use one regularly.

What motherboard is it on more importantly?

I don't know much about that particular motherboard but that chipset I have had good results with, and in conjunction with that processor too.

I suspect it would be great.

I would recommend buying a dedicated firewire card. What interface are you using?

Remember you will also need a graphics card. Be sure to get one which is dedicated - i.e. does not share system resources.

i will use the pci express graphics card in my current system.

is a dedicated firewire card better then the onboard on.

i will be working with pro tools le 8 on a digi 003 rack

i am hoping to increase the amount of RTAS plugins I can run.

for an extra 50 quid or so, you could move up to the q9450/q9550..

i'm only saying because i did, and i've noticed a HUUUGE difference in RTAS handling.

my buffers stay down at 32ms all the time now :):)
