I think the vocal is buried and still needs a bit of a bump. The narrative is too vital to not be intelligible.
It's a shame to altogether lose that old radio type affect you had in the earlier version. Just an idea.....Maybe use it in one part of the song. I'd suggest the last verse. "Alarmed" kind of sets the stage for the new affect. Plus it kind of reads like a sensationalist almost tabloid reporting of the action, a showdown between good and evil, our hero versus the bad guys.
