Can anybody tell me what guitar this is? I can't find any fender that has this body style. Is it an old knockoff?

That's a Fender shaped headstock alright, but the body looks like a Teisco/Silvertone. Maybe the neck was replaced over the years, or maybe one of the Japanese companies copied the headstock directly. (I know they did with Gibsons--I've got a small collection of those for nostalgic reasons.)

Looks Teisco but could be any from anumber of factories that used the same basic parts. those pickups are really quite good - single coils the bridge one of which should really cut through a band noise with some decent amplification.
the horns make it look like a Burns but the selector, P/ups & bridge all look Silvertone/Teisco/Bruno/Heitt/Woolworths/catalogue sales et al.
I have to declare my hand though - I LOVE the sound of these old MIJs.

ok, thanks. I saw it on craigslist for $50, so I'm wondering if it's worth the 45 min trip to pick up.

YEAH!
Seriously - if it's a dud (& you won't know until you feel it) you can always Frankenstein it.
I do really like the sound of those gits though - I have two from the same era with essentially the same p/ups - love 'em - I had a third - much closer & it was great - the third P/Up adds a lot of opportunities for variation.

Looks a lot like the 1966 Truetone (Western Auto store brand) I was beating on during the same time frame. Could easily be a Tiesco from the same era, lots of them had headstocks that looked a lot like Fenders. The switches are what makes me think it may be a Truetone. Anyway it has the look of a mid-late 60s, made in Japan, imported by Electro and sold in a department store for around $39.95 (plus tax.)

I think you picked the winner, Dani. I recall lots of Teisco's in department stores as a kid, but the local Western Auto sold mostly tire patches and inner tubes for my bicycle (it was a very small store).
I googled Truetone and the 2nd guitar from the right looks very close to the picture..
