Afternoon All,

We are a newly formed fresh rock band based in north London. Our music centres around 'energy rock' tunes - having a melody but a riff which will leave you tapping your foot at the very least.

We would love to get some feed back and reviews from fellow musicians.

There are a few tracks at http://www.mp3.com/unitydivide but we would like a review of our new mix:

Love Song Pt1 (heavy remix)

We are having a bit of a problem with sound quality when transfering the track to low quality mp3. If anyone has some advice on how to maintain volume levels and channel definitions when doing this we would probably pay for several weeks holiday somewhere hot ;-)

It would be good to get a bit of input over this tune though, as its the only way we improve.
Cheers and if you would like a review in turn list your url,

A.

Vocals need to be more prominent. I'm not ecstatic about the guitar tones you are getting either. They sound a bit...cheap. The rhythm guitar is sitting out front all alone with no one to play with. Lots of potential with some work on the mix.

Cool music. Good feel to the song. I liked the way the guitar parts and the bass played off of each other.

I thought the clean/flanged guitar sounded a little muffled. The distorted guitar was a little midrange heavy - when it's playing, it kind of makes the mix a little heavy on the right side.

The vox are getting a little washed out in effects. I couldn't understand much of the lyrics.

Some of the harmony parts could be a little tighter - lots of little syncing issues. It makes them a little tougher to make out.

A pop at :49, 1:35, 1:48, another at 3:22, another at 3:40. Probably a few more.

A bridge to the song would be nice. The song needs a change somewhere.

I think you have the start of a nice sound working. Keep at it.

Cheers for the input. I have now taken the track back to the studio to remix it... again. I have uploaded too small and too large a compressed a file so when mp3.com compress it further into LO FI it looses all stereo and volume definition. (The HI FI sounds much better on the above webpage). It sounds like the band is in a seperate room at times... Bloody useless.

On a CD its sounds good, time to learn new mp3 mixing skills I think.

Do you have any tracks on mp3 I could listen of yours so I can compare how you maintain quality and stereo definition?

Cheers again,

A.

I like the tune. It seems to me that the flanged guitar and the vocals are fighting for space and the guitar is winning. There's kind of a mid range woof going on that makes the words unintelligible. At the end, the harmonies are too loose. Gotta sync 'em up. Good tune but needs some work.

yeah, its taken me the last few days to get rid of the midrange 'woof'... completely remastered each input the only thing is ive gotta do the drums again... and the vocals could be redone. a lot of work like you say... and to think it sounded so good CD through a stereo...
Got any tracks on the net yourself TrackRat?

Sure. Hit the WWW button at the bottom of my post. Check out "Back At You". The other tune is an experimental work in progress.
