UB1202 Problem

I've recently bought a Behringer UB1202 and its recording quality is great, however I 've been having a problem when recording with my guitar using distortion. The clean sound is perfect, however as soon as i use an effects pedal (i have several boss ones) or use the amps built in lead channel then the recorded sound on my computer or played out through the speakers the mixer is hooked up to is massivley more distorted than the signal leaving my amp. Any ideas whats happening?

Perhaps the distortion pedal/amp lead channel simply has a far greater output level, which overdrives the mixer and thus adding extra distortion there? So try lowering the volume of your amp / output from the effects pedal?
