I was wondering do you use this compressor/limiter for tracking or for the final over all mix down?

Also, what is better, the rack or the software?

thanks in advance

The real hardware rack is much better than the software plug in.

An LA-2A is a great compressor for individual tracks but not really your best bet for compressing a whole mix.

I think the UAD-1 version is quite the plug... Not *quite* the hardware, but the characteristics are there.

I've used LA-2A's on full mixes on several occasions (of course, you need two of them linked to do this) with pretty good results if it's done very conservatively. Not the first thing I'd reach for in most cases... (YMMV)

The LA-2A reissue is a great, versatile and VERY simple unit. If you're doing a lot of tracking / mixing, you should have several.

Thank you very much for your input. I actually thought this question would not be answered in the newbies forum. It is pro gear and some of these newbies don't know about Universal Audio yet. (not to say that I'm an expert)
