i have no clips online no.. everyhting is under nuendo 2.1 right now...
If you ever get a chance to record a couple of 10 sec clips and convert them to mp3s, that'd be great, especially with the Groove Tube. I briefly tried the M9 at Summer NAMM but it sounded too nasally to me. It probably sounds better with a different pre and tube though.

Looking forward to your comparison. If you could get hold of a studio projects C1 mic too, that would lend insight into the v67 vs. C1 debate as well as how close a C1 approximates a U87.

I will also do a comparison of the Neumann u87, SP C1, and the MXL v67 if yall want.

It will be through a John Hardy M-1 preamp and PT 96 i/o, and monitored through Mackie 824s.

Im very interested myself on how the results will turn out. Will have to be done this thursday though but i will do some extensive testing with a group that is coming in.

I will also throw in the Soundelux U95 to give a little bit of comparison.

i'll try and do something this weekend..
the m9 when i got it was cool.. itwasn't nasally, it was actually kinda dark with thick lows and mids.. come to see i got mine with either the wrong tube in it or a bad tube.. i changed the tube to the groove tube and it opened up. i'll run it through a aphex 207, tascam m2600console, and a valley audio 401 mic pre tomorrow along with the u87 if i have time

darnold and c9-2001: You guys rule! Any and all mic comparisons are very much appreciated around here. :D

Ditto! And just in time for a lot of us to give our Christmas lists to our significant others. If you start a new thread, please give a heads up here too so we all get an email notification. Thanks.

Well i did a bit of comparison on Thursday like i said.

it was the first time i had compared the u87 and the C1 together. First of all, i probably dont have much more to say about it than what was already mentioned. But i would like to say, that i was actually quite impressed at how close they sounded the same. But yet, they definately didnt sound exactly the same. The C1 was DEFINATELY more harsh in the highs and high mids than the u87. Infact, it doesnt take someone with great ears to hear this, because i dont even know if i have great ears. Its actually quite an obvious difference. But still, i was quite impressed again at how well the C1 compared to it.

I dont think i said anything that hasnt been mentioned before.

I didnt get a chance to compare the MXL v67 though, maybe another time. But i can already tell that it sounds quite different then the C1 and u87, but is still a good mic to have around.

Anyway, thats all i have to say.

Danny

If you ever get a chance to record a couple of 10 sec clips ...

If somebody gets a chance to provide 10 second clips of women in Atlanta compared with Chicago so that I can A/B them, I would appreciate it.
