Im setting up a PC, and I have two hardrives available that i can use - a 40 gig 5400rpm unit, and a 80 gig 7200rpm unit. Should my editing software (wavelab) go on the slower 5400 drive, and the WAV files i will be processing go on the faster drive, or vice versa? Or does it even matter ?

Thanks,
T

i don't think the harddrive speed will make a huge difference for those programs. i usually put the progarams on the smaller drive, and the documents on the larger one. the programs won't grow as much as a document will.

There is something to say for either way.
Having the OS and software on a 7200 rpm drive will make them load and respond faster. But for DAWs it's common to use the fastest/biggest drive for the data.

All programs on the 5400rpm all data on the 7200 (including the swap file since my RAM is only 256). Works well.
